Stazon has a cool product out that is glue in an ink pad- which is pretty cool if you've ever wanted to use your stamps to stamp an image and then cover it in glitter, for example. I have not used a glue ink pad before, but it is something that I am curious about. From what I've gathered from the gals at the scrapbook store, you need to have the Stazon stamp cleaner if you are going to use the Stazon glue pad- otherwise your stamps will become tacky. There are a couple of other brands you can buy, but some of them require you to heat the adhesive in order to activate it (i.e., Palette Glue Pad).
From the sounds of the reviews I've read online, these glue stamp pad products are hit and miss. Some people are having a lot of trouble getting the glitter and other products like Fun Flock to stick. There's a good review here that talks about using the glue ink pad with flock and glitter. The reviewer got better results by stamping her image, then using her Zig Two Way Glue Pen and tracing over the image, and finally, sprinkling the glitter over the image.
The Zig Two Way Glue Pen is a very good product. While I don't use it as often as I used to, it's great for adding glue to thin strips of paper/chipboard/etc. Plus, depending on how long you let the glue set before you stick it to your project, will determine whether the glue is permanent or temporary. There are 5 different products that you can purchase- I've only used the two way pen pictured on the right.
I haven't added glitter to any of my projects, but I have been thinking about it. I probably wouldn't purchase the glue pad myself, especially since I have the Zig Two Way Pen at home, so for the time being, I would just use that. Saves me from buying a new product that I probably wouldn't use that frequently. lol.
If you're looking to stamp something glittery, but aren't interested in going to a glue ink pad, you can always purchase a glittery embossing powder, and just heat emboss your stamped image. I've done that before and the result is beautiful. I'd post a picture, but I'm currently out of town and don't have access to my example. :)
Until next time, happy scrapping!
