BIRTHDAY OWLS

Photobucket

This was a birthday card I made for a card swap I participated in this past February. The background is embossed using the Cuttlebug Happy Birthday embossing folder, and the owl was stamped in brown ink. The beak was coloured in using pencil crayons. You can't tell from the picture, but the white parts on the owl were actually coloured a light brown with pencil crayons.

VELLUM GLUE DOTS

I bought some Vellum Glue Dots the other day, and I have to say, I am very impressed with them. They work really well- you cannot see them at all on the vellum I used. Definitely worth the money for these. I was using a vellum tape, but I found that there were times when the tape was visible beneath the vellum, and it was a bit of a pain to apply. The Vellum Glue Dots were really easy to use, and are now my new favorite vellum adhesive. :)

My other new favorite product is the Basic Grey Rub On Roller. I am not a fan of the flat black end, but the roller part of the tool is awesome. I find my rub on's go on really nicely using the roller end. This is a tool I've been putting off purchasing since I couldn't really justify spending the money on it when all rub on's come with a Popsicle stick applicator, but now that I have it I can see why so many people love it.

Happy Mother's Day!!!

MOTHER'S DAY CARD

I used the Cricut to cut out the flower shapes for the card, and then just adhered a folded piece of cardstock on the back to write my sentiment on. The pink circle around the bug stamp is Gliter Ritz micro glitter that I applied over a thin line of glue. I coloured the bug stamp in with pencil crayons.

This was a big change for me because I usually don't use shapes for the base of my card, but I'm happy with the result. :)

Happy Scrapping, everyone! I've finally finished my thesis and successfully defended it on the 16th of April, so this blog should be getting updated more frequently now...

ST. PATRICK'S DAY CARD

This card measures 4 inches by 4 inches. The four leaf clover is a raised foam sticker with glitter on it that I found for a great deal at Michaels. I stamped. "Happy St. Patrick's Day" on the inside of the card, and put another (smaller) clover beside the sentiment.

QUICK ACRYLIC CARD

I made a quick little card for a friend of mine tonight using an acrylic tag.

I stamped the flowers and the butterfly using white Staz On ink. The patterned paper was adhered from behind the tag so that you can still see the majority of the flower. The center of the friends embellishment spins, so I used a circle punch to punch a hole in the tag and the patterned paper so that the middle of the embellishment would spin freely.

On the back of the card I folded over a piece of patterned paper and wrote a little note for my friend.

It's not a great picture because you can see my ink stained craft table behind it, so I apologize for the rotten picture quality. :)

Happy Scrapping, everyone! And, I know I keep saying this, but I am planning on starting to update regularly again... I'm in the process of finishing grad school, but should be done everything by the end of April (yay!).

Have a beautiful Thursday evening. :)

CREATIVELY DRAINED

I've been feeling very creatively drained the last few months. There just isn't much "there" when I sit down to create some nights. I'm *still* trying to finish the exploding box I am making for my parents for Valentine's. Yup, it's late. (My other two boxes and the card I wanted to make did get finished though.)

I spent some time just exploring other blogs tonight- looking at pictures, thinking about other projects I'd like to attempt, etc. I'm feeling the stirring of some creativity now, and I am thankful for that.

Sometimes I think it's helpful to just step back and look to others for inspiration. Something as simple as how another person has layered some paper flowers might be enough to get those creative juices flowing again.

A LITTLE QUOTE

'Making the decision to have a child-it's momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking outside your body.'
